Board of Governors

“The Garden Club of North Carolina adopted The Elizabethan Gardens as a project in 1951, on August 18, 1960 The Gardens were formally opened.”

The Elizabethan Gardens Board of Governors determines policies and sets goals aimed at improving The Elizabethan Gardens as outlined in the bylaws. As the policy forming branch, The Board of Governors:

  1. Directs the general operations and ensures the mission of The Elizabethan Gardens is carried out.
  2. Determines the course of action and sets the long-term agenda for The Elizabethan Gardens.
  3. Authorizes the program of work and approves The Elizabethan Gardens’ budget.
  4. Hears and acts on committee recommendations as required.

The Elizabethan Gardens is located adjacent to The Lost Colony's Waterside Theatre and Fort Raleigh National Historic Park on Roanoke Island nestled near North Carolina's Outer Banks. The gardens are open year-round, seven days a week.
