Join us at the Elizabethan Garden’s Greenhouse for hands on discussion of the many techniques of growing herbs and their uses. As a general description, herbs are any plant used for food, flavoring, medicine, or fragrances for their savory or aromatic properties. The distinguishing factor between herbs and spices are that herbs are the leafy parts of a plant, whereas spices are produced from other parts of a plant such as seeds, bark, and roots. Pruning Azaleas – 1

Azaleas, an annual flowering shrub, have a very finite time to prune. Join us at the Elizabethan Garden for a workshop on the growth characteristics unique to this beloved plant, as well as a hands-on experience in the different methods pruning. Limited to 8 persons. The Elizabethan Gardens is located adjacent to The Lost Colony's Waterside Theatre and Fort Raleigh National Historic Park on Roanoke Island nestled near North Carolina's Outer Banks. The gardens are open year-round, seven days a week except certain holidays.
