Easter Eggstravaganza 2018

“The largest egg scavenger hunt on the beach with thousands of eggs!”

OVERVIEW

Egg spoon races, hat contest, musical acts, dancers, special visit from Sir  easteregg3 Walter “Peter” Wabbit, make and take crafts, egg roll race, find special prize eggs to win: prizes, gift certificates, stuffed animals and more!

This event has become an Outer Banks spring tradition held in the midst of the beautiful spring blooms featuring an egg scavenger hunt, photo opportunities, a homemade bake sale, egg roll on the Great Lawn, story time, educational crafts, games, music, an Easter bonnet and hat contest, and more kid-geared fun.

ADMISSION

Members/Friends: Free. Non- Members: With a paying adult one child will be admitted free; One Child (under 5) admitted free with each paying adult. For info or details, call 252-473-3234.

  • 10:00 a.m. Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt Begins
  • 10:30 a.m. Fiddle and Violin Time with Club Violin- on the Main Stage of the Great Lawn of the Gardens
  • 11:00 a.m. Storytime with Mother Goose –on the Main Stage of the Great Lawn of the Gardens
  • 11:30 p.m. Bonnet Contest/ Judging on the Main Stage- Best Booth – announcement on the Main Stage of the Great Lawn of the Gardens.
  • 11:30 a.m. Egg Races- on the Great Lawn of the Gardens.
  • 11:45 a.m. Musical Chair- Cupcake Walk- Grand – on the Great Lawn of the Gardens

Features local fur-loving exhibitors (see listings below) and activities for your entire family with contests (and first place prizes) for your dog. WOOFstock also features music, a dog photographer and concessions available for both dogs and humans. Standard admission for members, non-members and canine visitors applies. (Dog policy details)

Woof! Woof! Want to be a vendor at WOOFstock? Fill out this WOOFSTOCK Vendor Info Form 2017  form and return or mail to director@elizabethangardens.org so we can bring out the dogs.

NOTE: THE GARDENS WILL OPEN AT 10AM ON THE DAY OF THIS EVENT.

10:00 a.m. – Gates Open/ Enjoy Visiting Vendors/ Sign-up for Competition –Right Side of the Stage. 

10:00 a.m. – Bella’s Garden Delights (our resident food truck) & Tubbs Hot Dogs opens to serve concessions onsite

11:00am – Welcome Dare County Animal Drug Dog “Boscoe” for a drug finding demo

11:00 to Noon – Judging for Best WOOFstock Booth – Winner Receives a Free Rental for 50 Guests

11:30 – Stage Competitions Begin on the WOOFstock Stage

Derby Party 2018

The classic event of the genteel south comes to The Elizabethan Gardens. Dress in style and enjoy the revels and embellishments of the race at this fundraising extravaganza that benefits three Outer Bank non-profits: The Elizabethan Gardens, Beach Food Pantry and Dare Education Foundation. Sponsored by Outer Banks Blue Realty. Expect a traditional southern affair with mint juleps, live and silent auctions, sumptuous derby pie, a hat contest and an assortment of live music, games and entertainment as you enjoy the beautiful gardens and anticipate the big race to be broadcast live. Kentucky Derby Party 2018
The event will take place on the Great Lawn.

Derby Buffet Menu: TBD

Before the big race, attendees can also enjoy:

  • Silent auction
  • Fashionable hat auction with hats “fashionably” styled by local businesses (the hat designers bringing in the highest bid will win a floating trophy and be automatically welcomed as VIP guests at the 2019 derby)
  • A Derby Hat Contest for party attendees (categories include Most Creative, Most Colorful and Best Overall),
  • Keepsake Photo Booth with hats and accessories.

A live auction and award ceremony to announce the winners of these contest will be held before the big race.

AND OF COURSE, THE’RE’S THE DERBY RACE, streamed live on large screens.

Place bet’s on the winning stallion with our derby “Horse Bucks.” Winners will receive a variety of prizes based on their luck in the race.

Our second annual Kentucky Derby Party – sponsored by Outer Banks Blue Realty –will raise funds for three great local organizations: the Dare Education Foundation, the Beach Food Pantry and The Elizabethan Gardens.

The Elizabethan Gardens is located adjacent to The Lost Colony's Waterside Theatre and Fort Raleigh National Historic Park on Roanoke Island nestled near North Carolina's Outer Banks. The gardens are open year-round, seven days a week except certain holidays.
