Getting to the Elizabethan Gardens
The Elizabethan Gardens is just north of Manteo on Roanoke Island 15 minutes from Nags Head, 25 minutes from Kill Devil Hills and one hour from Corolla.
The Elizabethan Gardens is located on North Carolina’s beautiful Outer Banks within Fort Raleigh National Historic Site on the north end of Roanoke Island. The Elizabethan Gardens, and other Outer Banks attractions, are within easy one day traveling distance from many of the Mid-Atlantic’s major metropolitan areas.
Directions
From the West
Take Highway 64 East from Raleigh, NC toward the Outer Banks. Continue on Hwy. 64 through Williamston and Colombia. Continue east until you reach Manns Harbor and cross the Croatan Sound on Virginia Dare Bridge (Highway 64 bypass). Turn left on Hwy. 64 and continue three miles past Manteo to Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. The Elizabethan Gardens is located within Fort Raleigh adjacent to Waterside Theatre at 1411 National Park Drive.
From The North
From the North (Elizabeth City, NC or Norfolk, VA area) take Highway 158 South toward the Outer Banks. About fifty miles from Chesapeake and Elizabeth City Hwy. 158 will cross the Wright Brothers’ Memorial Bridge. Continue South on Hwy. 158 until you reach Nags Head. Turn right onto Hwy. 64 West toward Roanoke Island and the town of Manteo. Continue on Hwy. 64 three miles past Manteo to Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. The Elizabethan Gardens is located within Fort Raleigh adjacent to Waterside Theatre at 1411 National Park Drive.
From the South
Take Highway 12 North from Buxton, NC to Nags Head, NC. Turn left on Hwy. 64 West toward Roanoke Island and the town of Manteo. Continue on Hwy. 64 three miles past Manteo to Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. The Elizabethan Gardens is located within Fort Raleigh adjacent to Waterside Theatre at 1411 National Park Drive.
