Summer Floral Design

9:00 am–noon

 $45 for members. $50 for not-yet-members

Come join The Elizabethan Gardens’ resident designer, the talented Nancy Harvey for this hands our workshops and learn how to create a beautiful summer arrangement. This take home project will be the envy of all. All supplies and a light snack are provided.

Hardscape Workshop

FREE for members

$15 for not-yet-members

Limited to 8.

Join us for an in-field discussion on the design and installation of hardscapes and terrace gardens. Hardscapes are the man-made features used in landscape designs such as walls and paths as contrasted with vegetation.  Learn the many applications and benefits of retaining walls in the garden. Discover the many different types of materials available to transform a flat land space into a beautifully terraced garden area. In addition other points explored will be developing specific planting schemes for many different applications, easy to install irrigation systems, lighting, and drainage.

Fall Container Gardening

As the cool weather starts to appear it is time to change out those summer annual container gardens to fall colors. Join us for a discussion on fall annuals and the creation of fall container gardens hosted by The Elizabethan Garden’s Greenhouse Manager.

Plant a tree, or two

September is a great time to plant trees and woody shrubs. This allows them time to become well established by the time the cold winter winds return. It’s time to get those beds planted with cool growing Fall annuals. There will be a discussion of how to get those beds ready for the Fall, and what cool growing annuals do well in our area. Christmas Cactus

Most Christmas cactus are native to Central, and South America. They are very long-lived plants that are easy to grow, propagate, and flower year after year. Join us for tips on successfully growing and flowering Christmas cactus. ADVANCED REGISTRATION REQUIRED Call 252.473.3234 to join us!

Coastal Landscaping Workshop

9:30am-5:00pm

Pre-registration required. 

The workshop is limited to 60 participants. 

Registration fee is $45.00 per person and includes a buffet lunch, entrance to The Gardens and an information packet that corresponds to the topics covered in the workshop. 

The Elizabethan Gardens and North Carolina Cooperative Extension are proud to offer a COASTAL LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP. Landscapes take a beating on the Outer Banks. Wind erosion, salt spray and storms can take their toll on your well-intended landscape. But thankfully, the experts with The Elizabethan Gardens and North Carolina Cooperative Extension have years of time-tested experience to share. Join this partnership for an informative Coastal Landscape Workshop to be held on October 20, 2018. And you can mulch over details as you munch on lunch, included as part of the day-long session so you have plenty of time to ask questions and find new ideas and inspiration to take to your gardens.
These organizations certainly know about the landscape challenges unique to the coastal area. The Gardens has over 65 years of growing and landscaping. And Cooperative Extension has state-wide resources and a team of local Master Gardeners ready to assist. Together, they have designed this workshop to share the knowledge locals need to keep a beautifully landscaped home.
Attendants at the Coastal Landscape Workshop, held at The Elizabethan Gardens from 9:30am – 5:00 pm, will learn about coastal habitats, landscape design and appropriate plants for their home. Plant identification tours in The Elizabethan Gardens will be provided as well. The workshop is appropriate for all coastal landowners.
Pre-registration is required. The workshop is limited to 60 participants. Registration fee is $45.00 per person and includes a buffet lunch, entrance to The Gardens and an information packet that corresponds to the topics covered in the workshop. November 3, 2018

Winter Transition

November is the time to clean out the remaining Summer annuals and get those Winter annuals in. This workshop will include discussion of the different Winter annuals that perform well in our area, developing a design and planting scheme that will give you beds that pop of color throughout the Winter and into the early Spring. Now that the colder air is here, and Christmas is on our minds it’s time to change out those Fall plants to the pastel hues of winter annuals. Deck the Halls with Christmas Greenery

With the holiday season here it’s time to decorate. Join us at the Elizabethan Gardens for a discussion and walk through the gardens identifying plants that are excellent for arrangements. Poinsettias Workshop
